Waste Management Legislation
Course Title: Duty of Care

Suitable for

All employees who are new entrants to the Waste Management Industry or for those who have responsibilities in the production, transport, handling, treatment and disposal of waste.

The course provides an introduction to the Duty of Care legislation relating to the above aspects of the management of wastes in the United Kingdom. It provides practical, up- to- date advice on legislation and how to comply.

Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the background to and need for the Duty of Care legislation.
  • Appreciate the legislative framework affecting producers, carriers and businesses that recover or dispose of waste materials.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the responsibilities and liabilities under the Duty of Care legislation and what needs to be done to ensure compliance.

Method of Delivery

The course consists of a presentation, workshop and short case studies and is delivered in a half-day. It can be run at either your site, if numbers allow, or at a local venue near to your company.

Recognition

Delegates will receive a Certificate of Achievement on successful completion of twenty multi-choice questions.
